This has to be one of the best collaborations in horological history.
Ming, the Malaysian boutique brand founded in 2017, teamed up with Massena LAB, brainchild of watch industry veteran William Massena, on a special, limited-edition timepiece, the 17.09 Ming X Massena Black. Inspired by midcentury Rolex “honeycomb” dials, this LE of 150 pieces quickly sold out due to both its good looks and the reputations of its partner brands.
This particular 17.09 from the circa 2020s features a 38mm black stainless steel case, unique Ming flared lugs, a sapphire crystal, a signed crown, a polished bezel, a black honeycomb dial, a luminous, laser-etched sapphire crystal (cool!), a matching, skeletonized handset, and a MING X Jean Rousseau signed tan leather strap with a signed matching black pin buckle. Powered by the automatic Sellita SW330-2 movement, it’s in like-new condition and comes with all its goodies.
Well-sized, wildly unique and highly collectible, this is a knockout of a timepiece from two highly important brands in the boutique watchmaking space.
